Twitter to host its first Live Streaming Concert, starring DJ Tiesto

Twitter to host its first Live Streaming Concert, starring DJ Tiesto

HP and Intel will be hosting the first-ever live stream of a concert on Twitter next week at the 2012 Consumer Electronics Show. The headliner: electronic music master Tiësto.
The concert will kick off the launch of a new 10-episode series on YouTube called “In the Booth” — a behind-the-scenes look at Tiësto’s life and his impact on the electronic dance movement. The private event at the nightclub XS at Encore in Las Vegas will stream live from HP and Intel’s newly enhanced Twitter brand pages.
Tiësto will play a 90-minute set on Wednesday, January 11 starting at 10:00 p.m. PT. It will then play on a loop on HP and Intel’s Twitter page for the following 48 hours.
“We have offered streaming on the site before, but this is the first-time ever that the site will feature a live concert,” Rob Pietsch, Twitter’s director of West Coast sales, told Mashable. “HP came to us with the idea and we couldn’t be more excited to hear how the company and Intel will be using their Twitter brand pages to reach out to the public and become destination sites.
“It’s a first for us, and we expect in the future that more companies will integrate streaming video into their pages.”
In December, Twitter announced that it would be introducing Facebook-style brand pages for companies to customize and highlight content. HP and Intel are among the first 21 brands invited to test out the new platform – other companies include Dell, Disney, JetBlue, Nike and Paramount Pictures.
The company said it expects to make the new brand pages for companies more widely available by the end of the first quarter of 2012.
Twitter users will also be able to interact with others on the site while watching the live stream next week. HP and Intel execs will also be live tweeting from the show via the hash tag #TiestoLive.
“This will change the way fans interact with brands on the site. Companies can tell fans to check out their pages and features by saying @HP or @Intel, instead of giving a long URL that doesn’t roll off the tongue,” Pietsch said.
“In addition, this is a concept that isn’t even available on Facebook, since it’s a closed community. Here, anyone can watch the live stream and chat with anyone else with the same interests. We expect to see some powerful things come out of brand pages in the future.”
The Web series – produced by Believe Entertainment Group – will launch Tuesday, Jan. 17 on YouTube and each video will be between five and seven minutes long.
“I’m always connecting with my fans directly through Twitter and other social media, so this was an exciting way to help launch the ‘In the Booth’ series and do something special for my fans,” Tiësto told Mashable. “One of the key reasons to collaborate with technology giants such as HP and Intel on my new show is the chance to try new things and go after big ideas.”
HP and Intel said they both plan to expand their brand presence on Twitter this year by offering new ways for fans to engage with their companies.
“Twitter was the perfect platform for us to try out an innovative new concept with Tiësto and allow people to interact with our brand at the same time,” said Natalie Malaszenko, director of worldwide digital marketing & social media for HP Personal Systems Group. “We have had great success with Twitter before and very high engagement rates, so we hope to do a lot more through our branded profile page in the future.”

FREE MP3s: Fedde Le Grand & Nicky Romero - Freaky/Slacking

It was January 6th, 1989 when young Dutchman Nicky Romero saw his first light of day. Born and raised in a small city called Amerongen, Nicky developed an interest for music at a very young age. At the age of 6 he hit his first snare drum after joining a marching band and this is where it all kicked off for young Nicky. After saving up for a little while, Nicky obtained his first drum kit and started banging away at it like there was no tomorrow. For the next three years there was only one beat to be heard in the Romero household, Nicky’s beat, practising the drums day and night.
Being bored with the drum kit, made way for a brand new set of turntables. Studying and practising his mixing skills were mainly what Nicky’s life consisted of at the time. Already flirting with the idea of making his own music and rocking the crowds some day. When Nicky finished school, the path was clear and the objective was set, producing music became not only a career, but a way of life!

To celebrate his birthday Nicky Romero shared 2 tracks featuring Fedde Le Grand via his facebook page. Just go to the link below and click "like":

Avicii Donates $1Million to charity from his "House For Hunger" US Tour"

Avicii announces "House For Hunger" January 2012 US Tour
GRAMMY NOMINATED SWEDISH DJ AVICII ANNOUNCES
HOUSE FOR HUNGER U.S. TOUR–
26 SHOWS IN 27 DAYS. KICKS OFF JANUARY 5TH in DETROIT
AVICII & MANGER ASH POURNOURI TO DONATE $1 MILLION IN FEES FROM THE TOUR TO FEEDING AMERCA® TO HELP FIGHT HUNGER

Rising Swedish DJ, remixer, and producer Avicii and At Night Management announced today the official dates for their one million dollar House For Hunger January 2012 Tour.  The tour which boasts 26 high-performance shows packed into 27 days is set to kick-off on Thursday, January 5th in Detroit, Michigan and will make stop in cities throughout the U.S. where fans have yet to see Avicii perform.
On the heels of a Best Dance Recording Grammy nomination for the co-produced David Guetta track "Sunshine," U.S. fans will get to hear for the first time live Avicii’s newly released single “Le7els” which has been declared the “Tune of 2011″ by David Guetta in DJ Mag.
Avicii and his manager and executive producer Arash "Ash" Pournouri have also announced a commitment to donate $1 million dollars in gig fees personally received from the tour to Feeding America, the nation’s largest hunger-relief organization comprised of more than 200 member food banks across the country.   The donation will help provide approximately 8 million meals to those in need through Feeding America.
Additionally, during the House For Hunger Tour, Avicii, Ash and local promoters hope to raise awareness about the reality of hunger issues faced today by many working Americans and engage the next generation of leaders to join in the fight against hunger.
“Hunger hits everywhere and the US is not immune to it,” said Avicii upon announcing the House For Hunger Tour. “For me personally when I found out how widespread the hunger problem in the United States actually was it blew my mind. I never would have imagined that 1 in 6 people in America struggle with hunger or that 1 in 4 children routinely do not get enough to eat. “It feels right to kick off this movement of giving back in the US, seeing how many amazing experiences and opportunities America has given me over the past two years, as well as the support I've gotten from my fans here,” he added.
Avicii’s manager Ash Pournouri continued, "This is the first time in electronic music history that someone is stepping up in such a massive way to engage fans in a movement to give back in their communities." "I felt it was time to turn a corner and tear down the negative stereotypes of drugs and reckless partying often associated with the house/trance/dance music scene as it’s a far cry from what the reality of electronic music is today. So Avicii and I are putting our money where our mouth is and taking the first step to give back to the country and the fans that have helped shape our careers,” he concluded.

It features four tracks: "Internet Friends," "Destroy Them With Lazers," "Tourniquet," and "Fire Hive".  The EP originally had a track called "Back to the Z-List", but was replaced by "Destroy Them With Lazers" as they no longer liked that song. Knife Party have made a remix of "Unison" by Porter Robinson which was released on 19 October 2011 on his debut EP, Spitfire, released on OWSLA, Skrillex's label. They also remixed the Swedish House Mafia's single "Save the World," which was released on 10 June 2011, and Nero's single "Crush on You," which was released on 13 October 2011.

inthemix caught up with Gareth while he was in Australia to hear straight from the source how the Party started.

“It’s really quite underground and it’s something that we can use as a creative outlet until we’re hit in the face with inspiration for the next Pendulum album,” he explained. “We launched it officially in Ibiza over [the last European] summer and it was for Radio 1.

“Musically the project just comes from different influences. I’ve just been really gripped by two things recently; house music and dubstep. We were just throwing ideas around and using that as a vehicle for stuff that was completely irrelevant to Pendulum. These ideas went from screamo metal tracks to moombahton and dubstep and house.”

“We found ourselves hanging out with a lot of the guys on the house circuit like Swedish House Mafia and Steve Angello and as we were writing everything just seemed to take shape,” he went on.

“Steve was on the Future Music Festival tour with us in 2011 and he would be playing after us every night and he’d see the energy that we could create from the crowd and I think that impressed him.
“But in their world those guys are larger than life. There’s something about the Swedes, I think; if you take the top guys in the house scene and look at what you’ve got you’ll see that there’s something that really separates the Swedes from the rest. They might all fly on private jets and act like rock stars but musically they’re just amazing. They’re like Motley Crue for the house scene. They’ve really ‘got’ us and we get them too.”

Preview: Antranig - Spank It! (incl. DJ Chus Remix) [Subliminal Records]

Make no mistake, New York based DJ/Producer Antranig knows party time. Here he returns to the Sondos label with another big room slammer. Antranig's solid productions have earned him a reputation for bringing energy to the dancefloor, which is evident here with the Latin based rhythm and big room synths. On the remix is the creator of the Iberican groove, Chus. He takes the track deep underground with a hypnotic beat that does not let you go. Spin this and watch the party people jack on the floor.

Behind the digital glow of a laptop stands an enigmatic figure weaving a musical tapestry of sound that blurs the lines between dance music genres. His sets consist of a seamless blend of House/Tech House funk, Techno ferocity, and Electro edge, with elements of Trance and aqueous Vocals. His torrent of talents distinguish Antranig as a DJ/producer touted by dance music giants such as Danny Tenaglia and Erick Morillo as possibly one of the most important talents to emerge in the dance music scene today.

End-of-year interview with D.O.N.S.

End-of-year interview with D.O.N.S.

German DJ/Producer and label owner D.O.N.S. has established himself as one of the most innovative, unique, and exciting figures in the dance music Industry. From his solo productions to his bootlegs and covers to his highly sought-after remixes, D.O.N.S. studio output is an ever impressive slew of crafted gems for the dancefloor.

Besides his busy DJ and production schedule, he still devotes some of his time to manage one of the EDM scene’s most exciting and forward-thinking labels, Kingdom Kome Cuts aka KKC, and discover new talents. He is also an active international Ambassador for HIV/AIDs charity Dance4Life, a role he shares alongside artists such as Tiësto and Fedde Le Grand.

We asked him few question about the results of 2011 year and plans for this year:

"2011 was a special year. Quite a lot of changes going on. I signed to a new management company called My Artist Management and I left my former Booking Agency Midnight Beats and signed a deal with Fresh DJs in the UK. I was feeling I had to move forward and cut off old tails, especially due to the changes in the Industry. Besides I changed the way I used to release tracks. I took a planned break from releasing tracks after my last single Rollin' Deep that worked very well and was 10 consecutive weeks within the Top 10 in the Australian Aria Charts. I've been working on my second artist album since May. Unlike my first album where I started to release the singles before the album was done and concepted, I now want to have all my releases ready and in place first to build up the album. This way, I have many more options and tools, I can be more flexible and work with my releases. It actually felt good, and that was the point of the break, to get a feeling and watch the scene with hundreds of releases each day. The daily increase of releases strengthened my decision to actually step back, not join the crazy release circuit and wait until I´m 1000% happy with my own productions. I certainly don't want to feel that I need to release track after track in order to get recognition. As I´m almost done with all my studio work I´m really excited about this year as I have so much music to bring out. Here's an exclusive first impression. The video playing one of my upcoming singles, was shot on one of my greatest gigs this year in the South Of France at La Villa Bivona:

Booking wise I had some great gigs, even though I played a bit less than years before in order to take some proper studio time. After all, my album was not going to record itself! Just to name a few, Amnesia Ibiza was a really good gig of mine, the sold out terrace was an unforgetable night. A 6 gig Sweden tour which was def. one highlight in 2012, Club Monday was insane. What really stood out in 2012 was ADE and WMC (besides the timing stress of WMC/UMF happening on 2 different weeks). We started throwing our own nights from my Kingdom Kome Cuts label brand and they were all a great success so we are already finalizing the next parties for the upcoming WMC. In terms of my label, I teamed up with Swedish upcoming mega talent Mikael Weeremets. The label signed a lot of great tracks and started releasing the first singles of Mikael's album. In signing a label deal with one of the strongest international dance labels Kontor Records, we found a great partnership supporting KKC artists and releases. It was a very good decision and for 2012 releases, we have an amazing set up and offer for new talents, DJs, labels and producers.

The release of my 2nd album incl. 10 singles is definitely one of my major plans in 2012. I´m happy as I already have all tracks signed. Besides I will present and mix the new Kontor Top Of The Clubs compilation in February. It´s the biggest selling dance compilation in Germany and one of the biggest selling ones in the world. Besides I became a Kontor Top Of The Club Tour resident DJ. I´m currently in collaboration with two great and international top DJs. I would love to name them but as we're still talking, I'd rather not do it yet. No, I'm not superstitious ;-).
I have some great tours in Brazil and Australia confirmed and we´re just building up a new studio set up in Miami and a special service for upcoming talents and established DJs. I do this in cooperation with MY Artist Management. In 2012 we will increase the amount of weekly radio stations broadcasting my show D.O.N.S. In The Mix from around 60 stations a week to 100 (at least this is the aim). I added a new format to my radio show. Once a month, you can hear me Back 2 Back with another great DJ. The first one in 2012 will be all time Samplitude legend Olav Basoski. The feedback after the first Back 2 Back set with Peter Gelderbloom was amazing that I felt enticed to continue with this new element in my radio show. I have great DJ lined up mixing back to back with me.

I thank Houseplanet for their constant and great support and wish them, as well as all the team, their fans and supporters, all the best for 2012. Peace and good musical moments. It´s amazing to have institutions like Houseplanet because they keep our music alive and strong.
All the best
D.O.N.S.
